“I moved to Colorado from Georgia in 1999 and before my Savory years spent 15 years in the restaurant business. I developed a passion for food, history, culture, and travel at an early age and after a stint in the Peace Corps and as a Resident Manager my career with Savory Spice Shop began in 2005.”
Dan Hayward owns Savory Spice Shop in Boulder, CO. Savory Spice was started in 2004 by Mike and Janet Johnston in Denver, Colorado. As avid home cooks and bakers, they always loved the idea of creating new blends and recipes to share with families and friends which inspired them to open the first Savory Spice shop. After the success of their first shop, they decided to expand the concept to a website, allowing customers to purchase anything available in the store online. They then were able to open three more shop locations as well as begin offering franchise opportunities.
Savory Spice Shop offers a large variety of blends and spices. Their spices are ground fresh in weekly batches so that they can offer the freshest possible products. Their more than 160 blends are original recipes and are hand-crafted at their warehouse in Denver. Both are offered for sale in as little as half an ounce and in either bags or bottles. The Boulder shop proudly sells spices to local restaurants, breweries, food trucks, chocolatiers, coffee shops, and many more.
